Grace in Times of Need
July 5th, 2019
by Daniel Li
(a sermon based on principles in “Seriousness, Sincerity, and Sanctification” June 29, 2019)
Also from Isaiah 24.
-“That you may find grace in times of need” (Hebrews)
Heb 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
– See to it that none of you falls short of the grace of God (Hebrews)
Heb 12:13-17 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Heb 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Heb 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; Heb 12:16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. Heb 12:17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.
– like when we go to the store to buy things but don’t have enough money to complete the purchase- this is “falling short”.
G5302|ὑστερέω G5302 ὑστερέω hustereō hoos-ter-eh’-o
From G5306; to be later that is (by implication) to be inferior; genitively to fall short (be deficient): – come behind (short) be destitute fall lack suffer need (be in) want be the worse.
Part of Speech: Verb
Tense: Present
Voice: Active
Mood: Participle
Case: Nominative
Number: Singular
Gender: Masculine
– “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord” (Genesis)
Gen 6:6-8 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. Gen 6:7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. * Gen 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord during a very very wicked time worldwide.
– “As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the end” (Matthew 24:37)
Matt 24:36-40 ESV “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” Matt 24:37 “For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” Matt 24:38 “For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark,” Matt 24:39 “and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” Matt 24:40 “Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left.”
– Again- “That you may find grace in times of need (Hebrews)
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
– PRIDE – “But God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble” (1 Peter 5:5, James 4:6, Luke 18:13-14)
James 4:6-10 But He gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes/resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” (from Prov. 3:34) 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded (1:8). 9 Be wretched and mourn and weep [Matt. 5:4]. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom/heaviness. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
1Pet 5:5-11 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 1Pet 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 1Pet 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.1Pet 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1Pet 5:9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. 1Pet 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you. 1Pet 5:11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
– FOR NEED OF A NEW HEART “Cry out for a brand-new heart”, cry out for repentance. (David) “For without holiness, no man shall see the Lord.”
Psalms 51:10 (KJV) Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Ezek 11:19-21 And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, Ezek 11:20 that they may walk in my statutes and keep my rules and obey them. And they shall be my people, and I will be their God. Ezek 11:21 But as for those whose heart goes after their detestable things and their abominations, I will bring their deeds upon their own heads, declares the Lord God.”
Ezek 18:30b-32 Repent and turn from all your transgressions, lest iniquity be your ruin. 31 Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord God; so turn, and live.”
Ezek 18:23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
– LACK OF SINCERITY – Sincerity, truth –
“…worship in Spirit and in Truth.”
Jesus said “I AM the Way, The Truth, and The Life”
“the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God”
Eph 6:17b …the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
“a sword shall enter your heart also” (the Word to Mary, Luke 2:35; Matt 10:34)
– “the Word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the divide of soul and spirit, and a discerner of the intentions of the heart” “we are naked before Him to whom we must give account”.
Heb 4:12-13 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Heb 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
– God hates a divided heart or people who approach Him dishonestly (He knows our very hearts) or people who serve Him only with their lips while their heart is far from Him. (James 4:8, 1:8)(Isaiah 29:13, Matt 15:8)
– ‘Truth is a medicine that is difficult to swallow (because it is painful to take into our hearts) but it yields righteousness (Look-up the verse “yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness” and see if it is like this). If we will accept it into our deepest insides, it will change us, if we receive His word into our hearts. The sword kills falsehoods, lies, even lies to our self- it does not kill what is right, good, nor loving towards God and others. It is like a scalpel, finely yet deeply stabbing away at the wickedness in our hearts, then we see the change in our hearts and actions secondarily – this is not just some outward showing but truth in the deepest of our insides.
— “Let a righteous man strike me- it will be like medicine” (Psalms 141:5)
— God’s word is truth(Psalms 119:160; John 17:17)
–Humility- it is required to receive.
— Blind eyes- if you would admit you are blind you would have no sin, but because you said you see, your sins remain. (John 9:41)
— Living water – if you knew who was asking, you would ask of Him for living water. He is the only source of that Living Water, who is the Holy Spirit. (John 4:10-11, 7:38)
— Even the dog received – she was a gentile dog, who had no right to the food of the children (the Israelites), yet she asked over and over, in her desperation she was willing to throw away her pride that she might ask of Jesus and perhaps receive- knowing He was the only source to fix her issue. (Matt 7:6;15:27)
—- side note: if even the dog received, how much more God’s children? “to as many as believed, He gave them the right to become the son’s and daughters of God”. The food is for the children but it also falls to the dogs.
God is no respector of persons (Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: ), but there is a difference between the Jew and a Gentile, but there is an order to things- to the Jew first, then also the Gentile. There is also a difference between a Christian and a person who does not know God.
Rom 15:15 Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God, Rom 15:16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.
— “Did I not tell you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God” Jesus said “I AM The Resurrection and The Life, …”
John 11:25-26 Jesus said unto her, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:” John 11:26 “And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”.
Now, Jesus is not dead, no He was risen from the dead 2000 years ago and He sits at the right hand of the Father, making intercession for us. “And if God be for us, who can be against us? Rom 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? But we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
—- Righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ. (Phil 3:9)
—- “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you” is a precious promise of God (in James 4:8)
—- We have not come to an idol made with human hands but to the Living God. (Psalms 115:4)
-Mercy and Truth have met together, righteousness and peace have kissed each other. (Psalms 85:8).
Ps 85:8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly. 9 Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land. 10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. 11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven. 12 Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.
Ps 61:7 He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him. Ps 61:8 So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.
Ps 57:10 For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.
Ps 25:8-12 Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way. 9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. 10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. 11 For thy name’s sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great. 12 What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
– by truth and mercy (Proverbs and Psalms)
– SIN
– To get God’s grace, you have to approach His throne. (Heb 4)
– You cannot approach His throne without being washed and made clean – so “go to Him outside the city” (Hebrews )
– Repentance from sin and Faith towards God, is the starting place, and the foundation of your relationship with God.
— Go to Jesus, at the cross (outside the city)
— After repented, and being washed by the precious blood of Jesus- having received the forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ’s atonement for us on the cross, THEN we can approach the throne of Grace boldly by the blood of Jesus, to get the grace in times of need.
— This grace (or like spiritual food) is not for the dogs, nor the pigs. – those who are not the sons of God through Jesus, don’t have access to this- they need to come through Jesus (salvation by faith in Him)
— Bold, yet humbly – We don’t come in to the throne of God on our own righteousness or good deeds (these are called, filthy rags as clothing, in the Bible)- we come in by the precious blood of Jesus, and on His accomplished work on the cross, by this we have access to the throne of Grace.
–
Pray for :
for repentance
1) Pride – don’t be proud but rather call out to God
– Ask God for real humility- not the fake (and lying) kind that exist so commonly, but the one based on truth.
2) Lying lips- keep them far from me, keep me from every falsehood or insincerity in my heart- please give me complete sincerity.
3) Unbelief and doubt: “Lord, I believe, help my unbelief”. Cry out to God in desperation for this. Trust God- “Ask in faith” (James), “believing you will receive the things you ask for” (Jesus, in Matthew) “else, don’t think you will receive anything from God” because you are double-minded and unstable, not having your anchor planted deep into Jesus (faith in Jesus). (James). Believing God is a decision- Jesus said it is something we can do. (your work is to believe)
–“Press into God” (press through the resistance by the enemy or distractions- especially in prayer, and in asking for sanctification)
–“Linger in His presence” (in the service, especially at the end- don’t be in a hurry to step out of His presence -don’t rush God, but wait expectantly on Him)- this also teaches you to be watchful in prayer
–“Pray through” (Persisting in prayer at the alter til you get an answer from God)
–“Meditate on God’s word” (we are sometimes a bit dull of understanding- so “chew” on it repeatedly and throughout your day)
–must look to God alone for our help- not rely on any thing of mans efforts.
–Things where u lean on other things but distrust God in the process
–“they overcame by the word of their testimony and the blood of the lamb and they loved not their own lives even unto death”
Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Gal 2:19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
When the Bible speaks of grace, often it warns about sin, so as to separate from it. This grace of the Lord does not allow a person to do whatever they want, but it is help from God to serve Him.
John 6:44-46 “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:45 “It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.” John 6:46 “Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.”
Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Grace from God is what draws a person to God, opens their ears to hear Him, and opens their eyes to see Him and eternity, and also softens their heart to receive Him by asking. Salvation is by the grace of God, not of works, let any man should boast. So grace is the free gift of salvation given to us by faith in Jesus Christ and His atoning work on the cross. Without this grace given to you, there is no salvation.
Grace is only free to us because God paid such a tremendous price for it- the blood of His own beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Grace was priceless, paid for by God, while we were not deserving- while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. This salvation comes by believing upon Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins- we realize, by the conviction of the Holy Spirit, that we are not good as so many teach, but we are desperately wicked and in need of the Savior- the only one that could save us is God, and it required a perfect, blood sacrifice. The cost was so high, but the Father so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son, that whoever would believe on Him, should not perish but have everlasting life. Salvation begins when we come to know Christ- but it continues through our life, and even eternity. Salvation, or being saved, is a present continuous form of the verb, not one of the past, a once-off form, but ongoing.
The grace of life (1 Peter 3:5-6) begins at salvation and continues onward. There is an ongoing need for grace to live in and for Christ, and this is through Christ- that He may receive the glory. If a person were able to live for God by their own efforts, then then a person could say that they lived for Christ by their own efforts, but we can’t, it is done by Christ living in our hearts. It is by His grace that we can live in victory. 2Pet 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
–We are to grow in the grace of God. This is done by prayer and a growing relationship with Jesus in our hearts.
–Obtaining grace from God requires asking, in faith.
–“Without faith, it is impossible to please God, for whoever would come to God must believe that He is, and is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
–Therefore, grace is receiving favor from God, obtained by asking in faith, and being pleasing unto God.
For without faith, it is impossible to please God.
Grace for salvation- present, present continuous, future to come.
Grace for victory in our Christian lives, in our relationship with Jesus.
Grace for ministry- that we may minister the things given by the Holy Spirit, to others.
The Truth (a sword & light)
Heb 4:12-16 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. 14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession [of faith in Jesus as our Savior]. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Eph 6:15-18 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Matt 10:32-36 “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.” Matt 10:33 “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” Matt 10:34 “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.” Matt 10:35 “For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.” Matt 10:36 “And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.”
Luke 2:34-35 And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; 35 (Yes, a sword shall pierce through your own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
John 1:1-5, 9-14 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Word Became Flesh. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. 11 He came unto his own, and His own didn’t received. 12 But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Rev 1:16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
Isaiah 26
2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. * *he gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.
4 Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:
2Cor 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. 2Cor 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) 2Cor 6:3 Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:
2Cor 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 2Cor 12:8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 2Cor 12:9 And he said unto me, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2Cor 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
Gal 5:2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. Gal 5:3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. Gal 5:5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Eph 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Eph 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. Eph 4:9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
Col 1:4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints, Col 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; Col 1:6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
2Thess 1:10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. 2Thess 1:11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: 2Thess 1:12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Titus 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Tit 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Heb 12:13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
1Pet 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. 1Pet 1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. 1Pet 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 1Pet 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 1Pet 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
1Pet 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. 1Pet 4:9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging. 1Pet 4:10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1Pet 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 1Pet 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
1Pet 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Amen.
James 4:6-10 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. 6 But He gives more grace. Therefore it says, (Prov. 3:34) “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom/heaviness..10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
Matt 23:12″And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”

17 And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

Mal 4:1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.2 ¶But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. 3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.
2Pet 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 2Pet 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 2Pet 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
2Pet 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 2Pet 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 2Pet 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. Jude 1:5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Exod 33:16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth. Exod 33:17 And the Lord said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name. Exod 33:18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.

Acts 4:34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, Acts 4:35 And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

Rom 4:2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. Rom 4:3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Rom 4:4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. Rom 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Rom 4:6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Rom 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
